Arrived in a not snowy but quite cold St Petersburg, -12 C.
Ate too much in favorite restaurant Shatёr:
Then short walk to the hotel:
Got up early since we had some errands to do an then off to the border in what might be one if the dirtiest cars in Russia and that says a lot…
Not even left St Petersburg and the car is falling apart…
Had only one ziptie, came in handy.
If the boat to Finland was first part, second is now done, 400km Helsinki-St Petersburg. Checked in to Nevsky Grand Hotel, the car is parked behind bars and now sitting in favorite restaurant, Shatёr.
Well, it is time to go east again, on friday 27 february we leave witht he ferry to Helsinki, from there on with car.
The “new” car is a Ford Mondeo Ghia 2,5l V6, compared to the old one this is a better starting point…
Here is the route we will travel, and of course go back also:
But the actual driving will be this part:
Arrived safely in Spb again after a long drive, 850 km, 12h, but caught a few exciting things with the dashcam, will edit later.
Anyway, saw some familiar shapes, although not a big fan of the paintwork:
Went for dinner at Shater, favorite place, major change of interior, but they do that a few times a year:
Had japan’s number one beer, if that was the best, I don’t need to taste the rest:
St Petersburg has a lot of lights for new years:
About 6 SEK/l and no ethanol mixed in means less consumption then home…
I absolutely love this city… Controlled chaos…
I think I have 50 pictures of this:
Dinner with good friends in James Cook Pub:
Apparently they know how to make ginger bread houses:
Big, big church…
Ate an awesome carpaccio…
